The Awards Are Piling UP...

LG from WRITING OFF THE EDGE ( http://lgkeltner.blogspot.com/ ) has honored me with "The Booker Award". It is given to a blog that spends 50% or more on the craft of writing or talking about books...and I certainly think I qualify for THAT award...lol...so on this Teaser Tuesday I will give you five of my all time favorite books but first...the rules of the award:

1.  This award is for book bloggers only.  To receive this award the blog must be at least 50% about books...either reading or writing about them.

2.  You must share your top five favorite books you have ever read.

3.  You must give this award to 5 other lucky book blogs you enjoy.

So here my top five:

1.  The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.  How is it possible for one man to put SO MUCH emotion and spirit into a book with almost stick drawings and a few words?  I should be so lucky as to grow to have a talent like that!

2.  A Tale Of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.  This story was required reading during my high school years and it left a profound love of the classics on my spirit.

3.  Silas Marner by George Eliot.  Another required reading by my high school English teacher where I would sit in his classroom and follow along as he played a record of the book for us to listen to...it certainly added to my enjoyment of the book to be immersed in the sounds of the actor's voices.

4.  Truly...anything by Mercer Mayer.  I cut my teeth on Mercer Mayer books...I grew up with him, joined in the adventures with him, and felt a little bit better about life in general after having read his books.

5.  Mine-o-saur by Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen.  Every summer I read this book to my students at my Summer Adventure Camp as it is a fun lesson in how to be nice and share with others.

and a bonus:

6.  My Lucky Day by Keiko Kasza.  I absolutely LOVE this story.  I love the little piglet...his craftiness, how he outsmarts those around him and it's just a GREAT feel good book!

Now...instead of passing out this award to just a few of the wonderful book blogs I read everyday...I thought I would just ask MY readers to give me THEIR top five favorite books.  I just might find a reason to add some more cool books to my collection!

News Flash!

When I began my blogging career last year, I really had no idea where this journey would lead me.  I have tried hard to entertain, amuse, and hopefully inspire some of my readers in regards to all things writing.  I love writing these posts and have come to the realization that I would like to change things up just a bit in the coming months.  Beginning in June, I will offer a variety of blog themes to maybe entice new followers to my site, but more importantly to keep providing quality posts to all the people who have been so supportive of my efforts thus far...

Sundays I am going to reserve for This & That...a mixture of poetry and/or writing quotes to inspire and uplift just when you might need it the most.  Feel free to chant any of the quotes as often as necessary in order to get the full effect of the inspirational boost!

Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays I will still attempt to inspire others with my thoughts on the writing life.  Writing is a lonely profession and hard enough without us beating ourselves up about the twists and turns on this path to publication...better to gather all the positive energy around us that we can!

During the A to Z Challenge I tried my hand at the traditional "book review". but with a little bit of a twist.  I enjoyed uncovering books with an engaging plot and passing on the news to fellow readers, so I will be continuing the tradition with Teaser Tuesdays.

At one of my other daytime jobs years ago, I attempted to increase employee moral by providing unusual tidbits from around the world on a variety of topics to amuse and astound everyone.  I discovered my friends in the writing community are interested in those types of tidbits as well,  so I will attempt to amaze and amuse you on my Wild Wednesdays!

Susanna Leonard Hill gave me the idea for this one.  I am trying to find time to work on my YA fantasy novel and she suggested maybe I needed to do installments on this blog.  I liked the idea as a way to keep me moving forward with the story so on Fridays I will attempt to tease you with the continuing saga of Lunadar:  Homeward Bound.  I'm not writing the full story on my blog because then you would never want...nor need...to buy the book when I get it published, but hopefully I can create enough interest in what happens in Lunadar that you will tell your friends to come by every week to check out the latest installment...;0)

There you have it...my new writing schedule...and true to my nature it is challenging and will keep me on my toes! Please give me your thoughts about what you think you might like about the new posting schedule or aren't too sure of...

And while some changes are a good thing...some things are best left alone...

You Be The Judge...

I enjoyed the challenge and fun of the "double header" theme of the A to Z Challenge so much that I got to thinking about my every day blog.  I love the wonderful comments that so many of you leave...letting me know you find my uplifting posts a highlight of your day.  I've thought about at least two other ways I can add to your reading enjoyment and thought I'd let YOU be the judge as to whether you would like me to add these tidbits to my blog...

In addition to my regular Tuesday posts, I could end by giving one of my "teasers" about a children's book I have come across.  Many people seemed to enjoy the ones I talked about during the challenge and I thought my readers might like me to continue doing this...YOU be the judge as to whether I add this feature or not...

Life can be a little crazy at times and humans tend to do some bizarre, funny things at the oddest moments.  I thought about adding some strange, kooky, funny tidbits on Wednesday as a way to help some of my readers get over "hump day".  Who knows, maybe one of you will turn a "Wild Wednesday" idea into an award winning story!  As I said, YOU be the judge as to whether I add this feature or not...

Thank you again for being the wonderful followers that you are and while I'm not trying to drastically change the way I do my blog, I'm also trying to avoid THIS...
