A To Z Challenge: BOOK NOOK REVIEWS "D"

Title: Demolition

Author: Sally Sutton
Illustrator: Brian Lovelock
Publisher: Candlewick Press

Ages: 4-8

"Grab your gear. Grab your gear.
Buckle, tie, and strap.
Safety jackets, boots, and hats.
Zip! STAMP! SNAP!"

Synopsis: Learn how old buildings are torn down and something wonderful put in its place as construction machinery go through the different phases of demolition.

Why I liked it: There are a number of preschool books available to show young children how to build things but here is a book that shows how things are torn down but for a good reason. I wasn't sure how the story would end but I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the final page of this book.

  1. Hi Donna .. boys would love this sort of thing - as I'm sure will girls ... I'm not sure about demolition having seen so much history pulled down - for better things = not always .. but I'm sure the book tells a better tale .. oh gosh I can imagine the kids loving this .. cheers Hilary

  2. Sounds like a really good book. Unfortunately, I have no children of that age any more. But I'm sure its a popular read.

  4. Definitely never saw a book like this when I was a kid. I would have loved it since I really liked that "Monster at the End of the Book" Sesame Street book. Lots of tearing down walls and such! :)
