A To Z Challenge: BOOK NOOK REVIEWS "D"

Title:  Duck In The Fridge
Author/Illustrator: Jeff Mack
Publisher:  Two Lions Publishing
Ages: 4-8

Synopsis:

When Dad was a boy, he discovered a duck in the fridge! And more ducks all over the house. He tried everything he could think of to get rid of the ducks with no success until he finally came up with a clever idea to get the animals to fall asleep. And himself too.

Why you should read it:

I must admit when I first started reading this story I wasn’t really connecting to the plot and the illustrations weren’t exactly grabbing me. But by the time the ducks start taking over the house I was hooked. It reminded me somewhat of Tara Lazar’s humorous book, THE MONSTORE, and the dilemma her main character had getting rid of a pesky little sister. This book ended up being a cute read and probably would be enjoyed by younger children.

Like-o-meter Rating scale**: 4 out of 5…think about it.

Blurb:

Addie comes from a long line of readers or "story catchers" as her family likes to call themselves. Every time Addie tries to catch a story on her own the wiggly words play tricks on her. She tries different ways to make those words sit still but it will take a little faith for Addie to become the next STORY CATCHER.

  3. Great that you've taken to a designated theme. It is not easy to maintain the momentum without the required material. Thanks for sharing Donna!

I love the blurb for The Story Catcher as well. I love writing and it sounds like the perfect book to get students interested in writing. :)

  5. Hi Pam and welcome to my blog! Thank you so much for your kind words. THE STORY CATCHER idea came to me after spending a year tutoring a young girl who struggled with learning how to read. I'm happy to report by the end of our year together she was able to read on her own which made me very proud of her efforts!

Thanks for stopping by and come back any time!
