In The Arms Of An Angel

Dear God,

A bad man came to my school yesterday with a gun.  My teacher told me to be really quiet and hide but I was scared. Why did that man shoot me?  Will I get to see my Mommy and Daddy again?  Thank you for sending an angel to help me...

Love,

A Sandy Hook student

My dear child,

I was there when that bad man came to your school.  My angels surrounded Newtown yesterday to help strengthen the families to endure what was to come.  Your teacher was one of my earth angels and I'm so proud that she tried really hard to keep you safe from harm.

Sometimes bad people do bad things and it makes me sad when it does.  I gave all my children free will  with a hope and a prayer they will choose wisely but sometimes the unexplainable happens and innocent lives are lost.

Know that your Mommy and Daddy love you very much.  Their hearts are hurting now but they will always remember your sweet smile and joyous laughter.  You will be there in every rainbow they see, every lovely bird's song they hear and every sweet flower they smell.  They will visit you in their dreams and one day, when it is time, you will be together again as a family.

I will make sure they know you are in the arms of the angels now and will never know fear or hunger or sadness ever again.  This is my eternal promise to you and to all my children...

Love,

God

    2. Tears are good. Tears are healing. One should never apologize for tears that come from being powerfully moved.

  3. This is a sweet tribute but what we really need is gun control.

What was his mother doing with all those guns in the house?

    1. Hi Clare! When I heard the tragic news yesterday, my first thought was not my opinion on the debate regarding gun control. My heart stopped and the tears flowed for ALL the victims including the parents of the shooter. So much tragedy, so much heart ache, and since I felt so helpless I prayed my tribute would bring a sense of peace...at least for a moment...to anyone who might need it. I'll let someone else speak on the behalf of the right or wrong regarding gun control as I am not qualified to speak intelligently on the subject and it is not the foundation of this blog...

  5. This is a sad post, but true. I wish it wasn't. It was a bad week. Someone tried to abduct a kid from my school earlier this week when he was walking home from school. It's all sad.

    1. Always believe you are loved. NO ONE can take that from you, no matter what anyone does or says.

    2. Awww, Erik, I'm so sorry to hear about the child from your school. No child should have to live in a world where they deal with this type of issue and it saddens me the world has come to that. As my sister says, never let go of the realization that you are loved no matter what may happen in the world around you...there is ALWAYS someone to turn to who will listen and who cares about you as a human being. This is why we should never let petty disagreements between our loved ones and ourselves get out of hand and simply love them as they are...with all their imperfections...as TODAY is a precious gift that may not be given tomorrow...
