MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE: THE HOMECOMING

***To all those who gave their all in service of their country...we salute you***
THE HOMECOMING
by: Donna L Martin

Walk softly through the creeping vines,
And never lead your heart astray;
‘Til the last dancer touches the floor,
And the fiddler has had his pay.

Play softly ‘til the golden sun sets,
And never let the rains come;
‘Til the last tune sings no more,
And at last they bring you home

Lie softly on your bed of green
And never give up the fight;
‘Til the last flower has had it’s bloom,
And the day leaves with fading light.

Sleep quietly in your darkened abode,
And never stop casting a stone;
‘Til all the stars have lost their shine,
And you find yourself all alone.

Dream sweetly in your world of dreams;
And never let them out of your sight;
‘Til the last mourner has shed a tear,
And at last you welcome the night.

Live forever on in the hearts of men,
And never stop ‘til warriors roam.
‘Til the last hope is cast away,
And they finally bring you home.

In The Arms Of An Angel

Dear God,

A bad man came to my school yesterday with a gun.  My teacher told me to be really quiet and hide but I was scared. Why did that man shoot me?  Will I get to see my Mommy and Daddy again?  Thank you for sending an angel to help me...

Love,

A Sandy Hook student

My dear child,

I was there when that bad man came to your school.  My angels surrounded Newtown yesterday to help strengthen the families to endure what was to come.  Your teacher was one of my earth angels and I'm so proud that she tried really hard to keep you safe from harm.

Sometimes bad people do bad things and it makes me sad when it does.  I gave all my children free will  with a hope and a prayer they will choose wisely but sometimes the unexplainable happens and innocent lives are lost.

Know that your Mommy and Daddy love you very much.  Their hearts are hurting now but they will always remember your sweet smile and joyous laughter.  You will be there in every rainbow they see, every lovely bird's song they hear and every sweet flower they smell.  They will visit you in their dreams and one day, when it is time, you will be together again as a family.

I will make sure they know you are in the arms of the angels now and will never know fear or hunger or sadness ever again.  This is my eternal promise to you and to all my children...

Love,

God
