All In The Family

When I was growing up, my father LOVED a sitcom in the 70's by the name of All In The Family starring Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker.  I don't know if he ever realized the main character of this show was fatally flawed with bigotry, but my dad would sit in his easy chair and laugh at how the world always seemed to get the better of Archie. He had a son-in-law he called Meathead and treated his wife like a second class citizen, yet Archie had a sense of duty to his family despite what he felt were their many shortcomings.

As 2012 draws to a close and I see the light of a new year shining before me, I feel a bit like Archie Bunker and have a sense of duty to my other "family".  I have spent this past year growing as a writer, and formed many friendship bonds with others in this writing community.  The caring and sharing is strong here whether you are a newbie writer or have published many books.

But not everyone joining this writing family knows the ropes.  I feel like I have only begun to skim the surface of the writing knowledge out there and I've wondered many times this past year if there could be one central place for a beginner writer to get their feet wet, so to speak, and be able to learn about a variety of topics leading to publication and beyond.

That's where my new writer series, WRITERLY WISDOM comes in.  Beginning on January 2nd, 2013, and every Wednesday after that for the next year, you will be able to come here to read a post from successful authors and established writers on every topic from WHY even become a writer all the way to HOW to promote your story once it's published.  I have a few openings in May, July, and next Fall so if you know of any author or established writer interested in helping out with this new writer's series, just drop me an email at donasdays (at) gmail (dot) com.

I am hoping this new writer series will be a sort of one stop shop for everyone out there who might be interested.  And the more the word gets out about this new series, the more people it might help.  After all, that what a family does...love and support each other and you all DEFINITELY feel like family to me...;~)

  1. Oh, I remember Archie Bunker and although he was narrow in vision, he was funny, and cared deep down. You have a big heart, friend. Looking forward to your Writerly Wisdom posts, next year.
