A to Z: Campanile

In the small town where I grew up there was a Catholic church that I had to walk past every day on my way to school. The church had a beautiful campanile (bell tower) and I used to fantasize about it.  Maybe I could be Rapunzel or maybe the Hunchback of Notre Dame lived there.  Today I could look at that tower and think of my writing.  Those bells always made such a lovely sound.  Think of your mind as a campanile.  Let your stories ring out with the truth of your vision!

  1. Hi, What a lovely word picture...the mind being a campanile and letting the bells ring out thoughts and ideas. Beautiful picture of the tower, too.
    Best regards to you. Ruby

  4. Shame we didn't stick with squirrels because the best way to catch them is to climb a tree and act like a nut.

  8. The campanile in your picture stands in St. Mark's Square in Venice, as you undoubtedly know. But did you know that it came crashing down at the beginning of the twentieth century and was completely rebuilt, using Canaletto's famous paintings as a guide? I once climbed to the top, but I was foolish and did so at five minutes 'til noon. I heard those bells ringing in my ears for days afterwards.
