Gone Fishing...

I'll be the first to admit this past week has been hard on me, both physically and mentally.  But things got better by yesterday and now it is the weekend.  Time to relax and catch my breath.  I've never been one to ask for help from others...I'm more the person everyone seeks out instead...for assistance, for advice, for a shoulder to lean on...and I'm fine with that.  I have always had a nurturing nature and it gives me great personal satisfaction to help others whenever I can.

But there are sometimes I choose to take on too much and it taxes my spirit.  That's when I need to stop and simply breathe.  Time to re-group so today I am grabbing my sister and running away to the countryside.  Burying myself in the sights, sounds, and smells of Fall.  The high today is supposed to be 66 in the valley which means about 63 where I might end up this morning.  Just the perfect kind of day...sweater weather and a nip in the air to put the color back in my cheeks.

Writers need to take a break now and again as well.  Step away from the keyboard.  Clear their mind of things like tension, plot, character arc, or anything else writerly.  Just take a little time to step away from whatever project they are working on and remember the world is still revolving...life is still happening... and there are precious moments passing them by while their nose is buried in that computer.

I know my projects will not suffer abandonment issues if I take today and relax.  Instead, I will return tomorrow with a calmer spirit and a clearer head to tackle my latest revisions.  So for now, don't think of me as running away from the keyboard...just realize I've gone fishing...
