There are some moments in life when you just know God has
placed an angel in fur here on earth to watch over loved ones. Allie was sent to live with my best friend’s
parents when she was just a couple of years old and quickly became one of the
family. Her bright, inquisitive eyes took
in the world around her and there wasn’t much that got past her.
You can see Allie took her guard dog role seriously! No stray pair of shoes was going to get past HER keen sense of smell! She might even
teach those shoes a lesson or two and chew on them just for fun!
Allie had a heart of gold and was the biggest “lap dog” I’ve
ever seen. In Allie’s mind she must have
been a Chihuahua for all the snuggling and cuddling she would love to do when
her family was around. She loved being in the middle of things and Christmas was a blast as she tried to wrestle new chew toys away from her buddy Max. I believe there
must be a special place in heaven for spirits like Allie where she can roam free
among the clover and lie in the sunshine after a good day’s run.
Goodbye dear Allie...what a faithful friend to the end you turned out to be. God sure picked the perfect companion when he picked you. May your new life be a peaceful one and I
know you will be waiting for us to visit one day…we just need to remember to bring along some chew toys...
Oh, what a sweetie! So sorry for your loss :(
ReplyDeleteSusanna...it was my best friend's dog but his parents took care of her. And YES, she was a sweetie...we will all miss her...

Donna, thank you so much for these much needed words. She will live in our hearts forever. God Bless you for all you say and do!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robyn. I cried when I heard the news...I know how very hard it is to let go of a loved one, but just hold on to the vision of Allie being able to run now without the pain...go, Allie, go! ;0)

I always say I'm a cat person, but I also always love on dogs. They are family members and are missed when they go to heaven. I'm sure Allie is rolling in clover with new friends now.
ReplyDeleteJanet, I couldn't agree more!

Ohhhh! What a wonderful dog--so sorry, Donna! Wonderful tribute to Allie.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Annie...she will be missed. Her buddy, Max, is missing her terribly and can't understand where his friend has gone...

I still miss my Gordon Setter, Penny. She was a 'leaner;' she loved to lean on you when you were sitting down, just loved to touch those she loved. We are lucky to have special dogs in our lives.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more! I have a cat, Tommy, that is 12 years old and I don't know what I will do whenever he is no longer around...
DeleteThanks for stopping by and come back any time!
Oh this brought tears to my eyes.... lovely tribute Donna.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane and thanks for your kind words. Aliie was a great dog and it's going to feel strange not having her around...
