Destined For Greatness

I have wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember.  Sure I wanted to be other things as well...children always think they can be the master of many talents and I was no different.  I wanted to write poetry, create children's books, and be a veterinarian.  I kinda changed my mind on being a vet the day my mother made me perform the Heimlich maneuver on my pet Chihuahua that was choking on a chicken bone at the time.  But the urge to write children's stories never left me...even when I turned my back on writing for so long...

Some writers go through their life never realizing the potential within.  They hide their strength behind weak words and wait for others to show them the greatness that lies inside.  Why are we afraid?  Do we need someone to "blame" if we don't succeed?  Or do we doubt ourselves so much that we need someone else to tell us we can be great before we believe it ourselves?

I think now is the perfect time to be a writer.  I don't want to wait until someone tells me its okay to want this.  I don't want to wait until the world thinks it's ready for another great story.  I want to live up to the idea of greatness and show the world it was worth taking a chance on me.  Just maybe I can be a small inspiration to someone else to keep working at it...to never give up...that no matter the struggle, being a writer is SO worth it..

And if I happen to stumble along the way, I just want to make sure I always at least LOOK like I know what I'm doing...
