This & That

LONG DARK KISS
By: Janet Lavergne

Once the candle burned.
I waited and I watched;
believed in all that you tried.
I wanted and hoped.
I did it all for you
and would have lied.
I gave you all that I wished
and sent you away
with a long dark kiss
on a journey that would
make you grow and learn.
Though it has been months,
the candle still burns.
