A TO Z CHALLLENGE: LETTER S

Some of the things found in the world today actually have been around for quite some time. Here's a look at some food items that have been around since the 1800's.  Did YOU know when these items were created/invented?

SALSIFY: A plant from the daisy family with a long roots which can be cooked like parsnips and edible leaves which can be used at a garnish.

SMOKING BISHOP: A type of mulled wine, punch, or wassail.

Blurb: Addie comes from a long line of readers or "story catchers" as her family likes to call themselves. Every time Addie tries to catch a story on her own the wiggly words play tricks on her. She tries different ways to make those words sit still but it will take a little faith for Addie to become the next STORY CATCHER.

  1. Interesting theme. I'd heard of salsify but haven't had it. I've drunk mulled wine but never heard it called a Smoking Bishop. Dropping by from the challenge.

    1. Hi Wendy and welcome to my blog! I'm not allowed to drink alcohol and never tasted salsify before but it looks like a long white radish or carrot to me...;~)

I checked out your blog and was so fascinated by your A to Z theme I actually took the time to go back and read every one of your posts! Two things I came away with after reading them...1) London has some beautiful architecture and 2) you sure do have A LOT of train stations...lol...

Thanks for stopping by and come back any time!

    1. Hi Mike! I had never heard of "smoking bishop" before and it makes me wonder if the name originated in England?
