A TO Z CHALLLENGE: LETTER B

Some of the things found in the world today actually have been around for quite some time. Here's a look at some food items that have been around since the 1800's.  Did YOU know when these items were created?

Bannock

BANNOCK: Cakes of Indian meal fried in lard.

BEEF DODGER: Corncake filled with minced beef.

Blurb: Addie comes from a long line of readers or "story catchers" as her family likes to call themselves. Every time Addie tries to catch a story on her own the wiggly words play tricks on her. She tries different ways to make those words sit still but it will take a little faith for Addie to become the next STORY CATCHER.

  11. I've heard of Bannock cakes which are Scottish and similar to scones. Apparently not much different from the Indian version. I think I'll stick with a more modern take on the scone.

    1. Hi Denise and welcome to my blog! I'm Scots-Irish (as well as Cherokee) on my mother's side so I identified with Scottish things at an early age. Sad to say though, I've never had scones nor the bannock cakes. I guess I need to remedy that situation soon as a toast to my mother's heritage...;~)
