Title: Hapenny Magick
Author: Jennifer Carson
Illustrator: P A Lewis
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press
Ages: Middle Grade

Synopsis: Being the tiniest Hapenny isn't easy for Maewyn Bridgepost. It also doesn't help when you are the servant of a spiteful troll trapped by magic in the village and all he wants to do is break the spell so he can eat you! It will take two special wizards, some magick of her own, and a dose of courage to help Mae protect her village from the trolls.

Why you should read it: I must confess the wonderful illustrations drew me to this book at first. Ms. Lewis has done a delightful job of complimenting this charming tale of what one small person can do when she has a little faith in herself. Ms Carson has created a wonderful world where trolls are excitingly frightful and tiny people call Hapennies, along with an army of magical beings, join forces to save the future of the Hapenny village and the people who live there. What child wouldn't want to read about that??

Like-O-Meter Rating: 5 out of 5...grab it!
