A To Z Challenge: BOOK NOOK REVIEWS "F"

Title: Fossil

Author/Illustrator: Bill Thomson
Publisher: Amazon Publishing

Ages: 5-9

Synopsis: Wordless picture book about one boy's discovery of fossils on the beach and what could happen if they came to life.

Why I liked it: Glorious full bodied illustrations tell the whole story without the need for words. Young readers have the freedom to become storytellers themselves as they share what they see within the pages of this book!

  5. A cute cover.....boys would go for this book. My little grandson claims he only likes nonfiction! I occasionally review picture books too...also mg and ya (which I'm also writing). Looks like some helpful material here. Thanks! Nice to meet you, Donna.

    1. Awww, Erik, I think you really would LOVE this book. When you have a picture book with NO words, you have the freedom to interpret the illustrations on many different levels and I spent a long time just studying the artwork...;~)

Thanks for stopping by and come back any time!

    2. 1500 to 1599? Good lord, I'm a slacker only doing 5 a day. I'm impressed! Thank you for being so sociable and making me feel a part of things; I've been thoroughly enjoying my first A-Z. I'm doing it with both my main blog, which is my blog for the A-Z Challenge, #327 on the list, and the one I mentioned above, the Noon and Wilder. (We're launching Noon and Wilder this year, which is why I did the challenge twice. It's been fun coming up with different prompts. I posted all the way through H on both ahead of time so I could spend time visiting.)

What do you think, in your experience, makes a successful blog?

    3. Hi again! What makes a successful blog? Number one HAS to be engaging content in each and every post. Number two HAS to be sincere interactions. By that I mean reaching out to other people and actively listening to them, finding a connection that you can share and making them feel like you truly are interested in them as a human being. I am a HUGE people person and have tons of different interests, opinions, and questions about the world around me so it's almost impossible NOT to be able to connect with the people, like YOU, who choose to visit my blog...;~)

I wrote all my posts over a week in mid-March and scheduled them to drop throughout the month because I knew I would not only be busy running my martial arts school, I am also writing a non-fiction chapter book AND challenging myself to visit 100 blogs a day during the month because I LOVE the idea of making new friends and discovering wonderful blogs to follow. Good luck with the challenge, but more importantly...HAVE FUN!!

      Take care,

      Donna

    1. Hi Damyanti!. While I LOVE the written word, there is something uniquely magical about listening to a child create their own story from pictures...priceless in my book!
