***Today I'm launching BOOK NOOK REVIEWS where I will shine a spotlight on great books provided by some of the authors participating in my annual FREE AUTHOR PROMOTION event held each May in my city. Help support these new and established authors by checking out their books!***

Title: Hampire!
Author: Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen
Illustrator: Howard Fine
Publisher: Harper Collins Children’s Books, 2011
Ages: 4-8

“On the farm, the critters knew,
At night while they were sleeping,
Past barn and pens,
Past lambs and hens,
A HAMPIRE went out creeping.”

Synopsis: When Duck can’t sleep one night, he decides to go in search of a midnight snack, but runs instead into the dreaded Hampire. Soon it’s a wild chase all over the farm as Duck wonders if he will make it home safely or will Hampire make a snack out of him!

Why you should read it: The author gives an incredible job of weaving a suspenseful story from the very first page while the accompanying illustrations are delightful.  Just when you think you know how things will end for poor Duck, Ms. Bardhan-Quallen pulls out a delightful surprise ending. Children will enjoy reading or listening to this book over and over again.

Like-O-Meter Rating: 5 out of 5...Grab it!

My FREE AUTHOR PROMOTION booth was right across from where she was autographing her books. I have many of her books...another one you should check out if you haven't read it yet is Mine-o-saur. Great book!
