I "met" JP a couple of years ago when he found his way to my blog. Neither one of us knew at the time how connected we would become. I began reading his own blog at the time as well. He was posting an ongoing story about a young boy growing up in a small coal town before moving to an all boy's boarding school and seeing first hand the results of bullying on a young spirit.
I was deeply moved after reading some of his posts and reached out to JP. I would like to think we are friends and I had many online conversations with him over the past few years as he was considering publishing all those tales he shared with the world through his blog.
I am so proud to be able to say that JP's debut novel A DIFFERENT CLASS BOYHOOD is now available through Amazon in both Kindle and paperback versions as well as hardback through Barnes & Noble.
I must warn you though. JP's story is not for the faint of heart. This story, based on true events, will tug at your senses and bring you to tears when a sweet innocence is lost and an inner strength reborn as JP's main character, Joel, survives all the torments of being bullied in an all boy's boarding school.
Despite my ongoing fight with my local post office to get my regular mail delivered and not returned to sender, I managed to stop them from trying to return JP's books yesterday. I'm happy to report both Janet and I are the proud owners of hardcopy versions of JP's story and he was even kind enough to mention me in his acknowledgments which was indeed a pleasant surprise!
If you get the chance, check out A DIFFERENT CLASS BOYHOOD and let me know what you think...
I have been praying for the book to reach us for a long time. Thank you, God, for the day finally came. And thank you, JP, for sending it to us.
ReplyDeleteHi Janet! Unfortunately for you, your enjoyment won't begin until this weekend...;~)

Excellent endorsement of this book. I know my heart would be ripped in two to read it, and yet, it is so important to give voice to those who have endured abuse through bullies.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary and welcome to my blog! Unfortunately both myself and my child both suffered from bullying so I could really appreciate the journey Joel went on...

Sounds like an important book, so wonderful to make those kind of connections. Will definitely check it out!
ReplyDeleteHi Yolanda! It definitely touched me. Please let me know what you think...

Thank you for the mention Donna. I'm afraid the book in its current format may not be one to discuss with the vicar over afternoon tea. A revised edition for younger readers will be available by the end of September as it is those (and the parents of those) who could take most from it.
ReplyDeleteOnce again thank you, it is not an exaggeration to say without your kind words and some inspirational blog posts the book would never have been put into print. It is a story that needed telling however difficult the reading.
Awww, JP, thank you for your kind words. I'm a firm believer your story would have seen the light without me but if I helped in some way then I am honored to be a part of this book. You have a story which needs to be told and you are a wonderful storyteller!

Hi Donna .. very interesting and I'm glad JP has felt he can write about his experiences - I'm sure it will be an important resource for the world to have access too .. and I'm pleased that a children's edition will be available next month.
ReplyDeleteGlad you told us .. Hilary
