I Wanna Join The Circus!

I think my writing career has given me the perfect opportunity to cross train for another career I've always wanted to try my hand at.  I wanna join the circus!  I can sit as patiently as any elephant...believe me I know because I sit a lot. Waiting for an idea to come.  Wondering if today is the day my muse will create a masterpiece.  Watching the mailbox and hoping today there will be an acceptance letter in the mail for me.

Maybe they would have a place for me as a balancing act?  I'm pretty good at juggling a full time job, home life, a budding writing career, and maybe a little ME time so I'm sure I could do her job!

And if it's jumping through hoops they need me to do...I'm there!  I'm already jumping through them as I make sure I've dotted all my I's and crossed all my T's whenever I submit another story to someone.  I might have to learn how to do it without catching my tail on fire, though.

The circus can be an exciting career choice.  So can writing.  I figure it's all what you put into it.  I just don't want to end up like him...

  1. No sad clown for you! Only happy clowns. I love thinking of writing like a circus act. All we need is for somebody to buy a ticket.

  3. Hmm, I'd rather be a writer, because then I can vicariously experience any number of careers. My current WIP is actually about a circus performer!

  6. Emmit Kelly! (Sad Clown). Loved him. I agree that you COULD be in a circus. But I think you'd be the Ringmaster.

  7. Hi Donna .. we've had such wonderful talent displayed for us during the Opening and Closing Ceremonies .. and today in central London - they've got a circus day going on - should be amazing - across all our landmark sites ...

Great idea about the circus though .. cheers Hilary

  9. Maybe that's why writing is such a great fit for me...I performed in the circus for several years. Really.

    2. Center ring performer. I was primarily a juggler and unicycler, but also performed stiltwalking, high wire, rolling globe, and double trapeze. It was a loong time ago. Almost 30 years.

  10. I've vicariously loved reading your blog posts all summer!
I agree about the metaphor of writing and joining the circus. They are rather similar.

Loved all the comments, too. :)
