Summer Time Fun

I know summer is winding down and for most of us in the states, school is just around the corner.  But there is still fun to be had under the sun.

It's not like I'm not busy enough this summer with my full time job at my TaeKwonDo school.  I also am working on Lunadar: Homeward Bound and that occupies a lot of my free time.  But I love a personal challenge and there are a couple of fun events happening right now that tickles my fancy.  I simply couldn't turn my back on them.  Maybe it will tickle yours as well...

When do you know the right write club is the right club for you?  D L Hammons (mystery/thriller/suspense writer) has created a fabulous writing competition where writers will go head to head with 500 word writing samples in any genre over a twelve week period.  The entries are anonymous to reduce the chance of playing favorites and the winner will be chosen by a panel of industry experts.  The contest begins Monday, July 30th so there is still time to sign up!  For more information about this fun contest, here is the link... http://dlcruisingaltitude.blogspot.com/2012/07/write-club-2012.html

My friend, children's book author Susanna Leonard Hill, is having a wonderfully fun time with her Summer Short & Sweets writing event.  Every week she has an amazing prompt for writers to challenge our creativity.  I find myself eagerly awaiting Fridays to find out what Susanna will come up with next.  As the logo says, it's short and sweet and definitely fun for the summer! These are just a couple of fun writing events going on this summer.  As writers we must continue to grow our skills to be the strongest they can be, but who said the learning had to be boring?

  1. Thank you so much for this!! WRiTE CLUB is already twice as large as it was last year and we hope to have twice as much fun! Those interested can submit anytime during the 12 week preliminary period...and can vote on entries as often or little as you like (as long as you register on the Linky List).

  3. I am very excited about WRiTE CLUB. Short and Sweets sounds fun too but I'm not a children's writer. There are lots of fun events going on right now that are specific to different genres. Just keep writing :)
